Pulsatile Product Pipeline

The SynCardia temporary CardioWest™ Total Artificial Heart has provided a Bridge to Life™ for more than 800 patients dying from end-stage biventricular heart failure. Building on this knowledge and experience, SynCardia has focused on developing a family of pulsatile products to serve a broader spectrum of patients suffering from end-stage heart failure.

SynCardia is developing a 50cc Total Artificial Heart for patients of smaller stature. Together, the 70cc and 50cc Total Artificial Hearts will provide a Bridge to Life for both men and women with a Body Surface Area (BSA)* of 1.0 m² and larger.

SynCardia’s 10cc and 30cc ventricular assist devices (VADs), currently in development, are designed for newborns and children suffering from end-stage heart failure. SynCardia is also developing a 60cc VAD for adults.

The 10cc, 30cc and 60cc VADs and the 50cc Total Artificial Heart are not for human use. These products are in the research and development phase and will not be ready for sale in the U.S. or Europe until after all regulatory requirements have been met.
