Patient Discharge (Europe)

Discharge drivers allow stable patients with a SynCardia temporary Total Artificial Heart to enjoy a quality lifestyle at home and in their communities while they wait for a matching donor heart. Patients who are discharged can enjoy everyday activities such as shopping, gardening, going on vacation, visiting relatives, attending sporting events and dining at restaurants.

"As I saw in Germany when we sent patients home, we can describe the quality of life of patients supported with the portable driver as near normal. They are very active, they can go shopping, drive in cars, they are going for holidays, for vacations and so on. Recovery at home eliminates hospitalization costs for this portion of their care.”

"You can have a good life with the SynCardia Total Artificial Heart. You can participate in everyday life. You need the help of your family of course, but the contrast of living with the Total is less than expected. On the Total Artificial Heart I could go on walks, do housework, go shopping, play darts and attend birthday parties.”
