Texas Children's Hospital in Houston, the first pediatric hospital in the world to implant the only approved Total Artificial Heart into the chest of a teen, is now sending the patient home. Jordan Merecka, 18, is being discharged from the hospital using the Freedom® portable driver, a wearable power supply that can be carried in a backpack and run his Total Artificial Heart while he waits for a donor heart.
